Can We Register Land in Panguni Month?

DateFebruary 26, 2021

Panguni Uthiram is a very auspicious day that falls in the month of Panguni (also called Phalgun), the twelfth and last month in the Tamil calendar. The month of Panguni is between mid-March to mid-April and is known as the month of Phalgun (Phalguna) in the Hindu calendar. It is observed when the Moon transits in the nakshatra (star) Uthiram on Poornima (Full Moon) day. It is called Panguni Uthiram or Uttara Phalguni.

Panguni Uthiram is believed to be a very auspicious, powerful, and divine day. However, the month is dedicated to divine activities, and no marriage, purchase of property, or house-warming ceremony is performed during this month.

Can We Register Land in Panguni Month

As a rule, Hindus usually determine auspicious dates after doing Panchang Shuddhi or Panchangam Shuddhi. For selecting an auspicious moment, Panchangam Shuddhi is a fundamental step. Panchanga, the five Angas (limbs) are important factors required to select an auspicious time for an occasion. Tithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Yoga, and Karana are evaluated, and when they are selected, an auspicious time is determined.

Favorable transits and purified ascendants are important aspects to be checked. The days and dates are checked for auspiciousness before proceeding to purchase or register property. The time is very important as usually, it should be ‘Shubh’ or auspicious. Only in Shubh Muhurtam or Muhurat, auspicious acts are performed. These Shubh Muhurats prevail for a few hours, and within that time, auspicious acts are carried out.

One can check with one’s family priest or astrological expert for advice on such auspicious matters. There may be some situations, as in the case of purchasing new property and shifting. In Panguni month, after the New Moon (Amavasya) day in Panguni, there is Chaithra Shuddhi. Chaithra is the month of Chithirai in Tamil. It is the first month of the year, according to the Tamil calendar.

Shifting to a new home is not advisable in Panguni month. There may be an occasion, when the Grihapravesham may have been performed earlier for the house, but the family may not have shifted into the new premises. In Panguni month, if such a situation arises, the family can shift into the new home. However, it is suggested to perform Samaaradhanai to one’s Kuladeivam (family deity) after moving into the new premises. A homa and pooja can be performed to cleanse the home and surroundings with positive energy and vibrations.

Moreover, it is important to check the Lagna (Ascendant). During the time of shifting, the Lagna (Ascendant) must be in a fixed sign. If the Lagna is in a Fixed sign like Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius, at the time of shifting, then this signifies that the occupants will stay permanently in the house. Fixed signs are associated with stabilization, depth, and persistence. They are also rigid, stubborn and uphold responsibilities and preserve tradition.

If the Lagna is in a Movable sign like Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, the occupants will be out of the house. These signs are active, energetic, and more prone to change. They are more daring, enterprising, and adventurous. If the Lagna is in a Common sign, like Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces, the occupants will sometimes stay in the house and sometimes be out of the house. These signs are also called Mutable and love challenge and change. They are between the excesses of the Movable sign and the stubborn nature of the Fixed sign.

When the Movable sign is present in the Ascendant, it denotes a lot of movement and travel, wherein the native will be out of the house. If the Common or Dual signs are present in the Lagna, then the native may be fixed and movable. If the Fixed sign is present in the Lagna, then the native is stable in one place.

Lagna in Movable sign should be avoided.

Another important factor while buying, registering, or shifting to a new home is to check Rahu Kalam, which should be avoided. Rahu Kalam is generally perceived as an inauspicious period to perform or initiate any auspicious event or ritual. Before initiating any new task, venture, or performing a religious or social event like a marriage or house-warming ceremony, they check for the Rahu Kalam. They will not perform or initiate any auspicious task or event in that period.

The 8th House from the Lagna should be empty. A Griha Pravesh conducted in one’s own Rashi, Birth Nakshatra, or Birth Lagna (in the natal chart) is considered highly auspicious.

Although Panguni Uthiram is dedicated to performing divine activities, it is not favorable for purchasing, registering, or shifting into a new property. It would be advisable to check with the family priest or take expert astrological advice before taking any step.
