Mythology Behind Archetype Venus:

According to the mythology, Venus (Shukra) is the son of Bhrigu, one of the saptarishis (7 prominent sages). Shukra was the guru (teacher) of the Asuras (demons) and referred to as Shukracharya or Asuracharya in various sacred texts.

As per the great Hindu epic Mahabharata, Shukra split himself into two, each becoming the sources of knowledge and divine wisdom for Devas (angels) and Asuras (demons). It is also mentioned that Shukra was one of the gurus of Bhishma, having taught him political science.

Raising the dead back to life was one of the famed skills that Shukra possessed and he was considered dangerous that it could bring back the evil forces to life. Hence, the Gods gained that talent from Shukra.

Shukra or Venus as a planet has been mentioned in various astronomical texts by famous astronomers such as Aryabhatta, Varahamihira and Brahmagupta.
