Why is Akshaya Tritiya the Most Auspicious Day for Marriage?

One of the most iconic celebrations of Hindus is Akshaya Tritiya, the symbol of growth, prosperity, and happiness. It is celebrated on 26th April 2020. Sade-Teen Muhurat is an auspicious time and is one among the three auspicious lunar days, which coincides with Akshaya Tritiya. The three days, which gains a lot of reverence is Gudi Padwa, Vijaya Dashami, and Akshaya Tritiya. The first half tithi of Kartik Shukla Pratipada is considered favorable for half-day, so many people consider doing positive things on this day too. Legend of Akshaya Tritiya:
There are several references for marriages taking place on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. According to the legends, the celestial marriage took place on the day of Akshaya Tritiya 2020 between Goddess Madhura married God Sundaresha, who was an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Thus, many people would like to follow the same pattern and get married on that auspicious day.

On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, both the Sun and the Moon are in their most radiant phase at the exalted position. This is not so common and is regarded as highly beneficial astrologically.

An astrologer would suggest various remedial rituals, which are called Parihara Puja to be performed before the commencement of the marriage. It is important to donate a mud pot to a Lord Shiva temple and perform “Rudrabhishek” for Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The ritual starts by holding the coconut in the hands and praying the favorite deity in mind. The Prohit or the Godman, would tell the gotra and make the couple ambulate the holy banyan tree for seven times. The coconut should then be left beneath the tree, which symbolizes the obstacles that are gotten rid of a person.
Marriages between Mismatched Horoscopes:
The demand for performing marriages on this special day of Akshaya Tritiya has gained a lot of significance over the years, and the tithi of Akshaya Tritiya witnesses several marriages. As there the entire day is auspicious, there is no necessity to look for the particular auspicious time. Almost all the wedding halls, marriage vendors and other professionals related to the wedding are pre-booked.
