TV Direction As Per Vastu

Vastu Shastra, generally known as Vastu, is the ancient Indian system of construction. Literally meaning 'the science of architecture,' Vastu describes the principles of construction, which include layouts, designs, measurements, and space arrangements. This traditional system aims to blend architecture with nature through geometrical patterns, symmetry, and alignments.
Television and Vastu
Television (the TV) has become an integral part of our homes, often occupying a pride of place in our living spaces. It remains the principal source of entertainment and information at home, helps bring the family members together, and allows them to spend some pleasant time in one another's company, facilitating bonding. TV, which people see, hear, and enjoy so much Day in and Day out, remains the cause of considerable energy flow. Hence, its placement assumes significance for a positive and harmonious domestic environment.
Here, let us learn some simple principles that Vastu recommends regarding the location, placement, and direction of this powerful telecommunication medium.
TV Location and Direction
The right location for placing the TV in a residence is the drawing room, also called the living room.
According to Vastu, it is best to place the television in the southeast corner of this room. This aspect is born out of the logic that the southeast is the direction of Agni, the fire, and that aligns comfortably with the electronic medium of TV.
The next best position for the TV is the northwest corner of the drawing room, which can help ensure a balanced viewing of the content dished out by the TV programs and a harmonious atmosphere among the viewers/family members.
There are 2 more corners, the southwest and the northeast, which do not find favor with Vastu for television placement. While TV in the southwest corner can become the cause for disagreements and disharmony at home, the northeast is regarded as a Sacred space that should be kept free of clutters to enable spiritual advancement.
Also, viewers must ensure that they sit facing east or north while watching television. This can provide an alignment that will promote ease, comfort, and sound health.
The bedroom is not the place for a medium like a TV that keeps relaying dynamic images and sound 24/7, which can disrupt the serenity of the atmosphere and hinder restful sleep. But these days, we find many households having more than 1 television, which may warrant having a TV in the bedroom, too. In such an unavoidable scenario, people should ensure that it is not placed right in front of the bed, as TV viewing before sleep can interfere with relaxation and sleep. Instead, they can have the TV in the southeast corner of the bedroom and also have it covered when it is not used.
TV-Related Tips
Please keep the space around the TV clean and uncluttered; it can promote an unhindered flow of positive energy. Also, try not to place many electronic gadgets close to the TV; that can avoid electromagnetic interference.
Also, ensure that the reflection of the entrance door or mirror does not fall on the TV screen; this way, people can avoid distraction and unease.
Do not place the TV too high or too low, but at a height that the TV screen remains at the eye level of the seated viewers. This can save you from straining the eyes and neck.
By following these simple Vastu guidelines regarding TV placement and direction, people can ensure a harmonious atmosphere at home in addition to enjoying TV viewing.
