How are Astrologers Able to Predict the Future?

Astrology is an ancient system that operates on the premise that heavenly bodies like the stars and planets cast strong influences on human life on Earth. The study of their placements and movements can help people learn about the significant aspects of their lives and foresee what destiny has in store for them in the future. Astrologers are those with expertise on the subject.
This widely believed and celebrated predictive science operates based on a framework called the birth chart, which is also known as the horoscope. These charts are specific to an individual. Astrologers make these charts based on the placement of the planets in the celestial realm at the place, date, and time of the person's birth.
The Dynamics of Astrologers' Predictions
Planets and Houses
Vedic Astrology recognizes 9 planets. It also divides the zodiac into 12 signs, ruled by different planets, known as the planetary lords. The horoscope has 12 sections, called Houses, and these 12 Houses correspond to the 12 signs of the zodiac. Astrologers plot the 9 planets as they remain placed in the sky at the moment of birth of a person across these horoscopic Houses.
Thus, the birth chart or the natal chart is a celestial map in which the 9 planets are plotted across the 12 Houses that represent the 12 zodiac signs.
The nine planets are the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, and the shadow planets Rahu and Ketu. Some are categorized as auspicious or benefic planets, while others are inauspicious or malefic.
Coming to the zodiac signs, these are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.
Each of these 12 signs, ruled by a planet, has unique characteristics. Each of the 12 astrological Houses, named 1 to 12, too, has its own significance. They represent all the various aspects of life, such as the self—physical structure and psychological outlook, family, wealth, health, education, skills, vocation like career, profession or business, marriage, spouse, communication, travels, happiness, satisfaction, spirituality, and longevity.
The various planets found in different Houses at the moment of birth are believed to significantly influence a person's life and all its aspects.
The Transiting Planets
Planets are heavenly bodies that are constantly on the move in the celestial realm. Thus, they keep moving in the zodiac across the 12 astrological Houses. These are known as planetary transits. Due to these transits, different planets will be present in different Houses at any particular period of time.
In addition to considering the planetary placements at the time of birth, astrologers also study these transits and the positioning of the planets in various Houses during different durations for their assessment and predictions for the present and the future. At least some of these planetary transits and placements can denote critical aspects, and seasoned astrologers with sound expertise and experience may be able to interpret these precisely as indicating life's events of high significance concerning health, marriage, or even death.
The 'Aspects' of Planets
So far, we have only discussed the presence of a planet in a House. However, there is one more planetary aspect that matters in astrological study. That is the 'aspect' of a planet. An 'aspect' can be astrologically defined as the angles that different planets form among themselves. These angles can start with zero and can be 60, 90, 120, and 180. An 'aspect' can also be defined as the 'gaze' that a planet casts on another planet or a House. These 'aspects' can contribute to distinct energies, impacting people and the events in their lives.
A Word of Caution
But all said and done, astrology is not a scientific study and is essentially belief-based. It is also a fact that astrological predictions have remained a mixed bag, some proving right sometimes for some people and some others otherwise. It is better for people to bear this in mind while seeking astrological consultations.
