Keep the study room uncluttered. It would be better if it didn't have any pillars. Also, avoid having sharp-edged furniture, open cupboards, and shelves there. These can interfere with the student's concentration; not having them can help better focus.
Let the study tables be square or rectangular and not of any other shape. It can help bring better clarity in thinking and focus. Also, let the student face the propitious directions, East or North, while studying.
As a Vastu principle and a general rule, the study space should be well-lit and bright. A dimly lit room may cast shadows on the student’s performance. Vastu also recommends using a study lamp, which can help the student focus on the lessons better.
It can be very helpful if the students have some open space in front of them instead of facing a wall or some other close object. The free area in front can inspire the students, generating refreshing thoughts and ideas.
Painting the study room wall with light, pleasant colors can improve the ambiance and make it conducive to learning. White, green, yellow, or orange colored walls can improve memory and focus and aid retention capacity. It is better to avoid dark colors, with a categorical 'no' to black.
One can decorate the walls with pictures or images that inspire students, like the rising Sun and/or a running horse. Having pictures of photos of their favorite deities, the Goddess of Learning Saraswati and the Remover of Obstacles Ganesha, can also motivate the students to put their heart and soul into their studies.
Any recognition won by the students, such as prizes, awards, and trophies, can also be prominently displayed in the study room as an inspiration to them. It is preferable to display them on the southern part of the room or the south wall.
