Lord Karuppaswamy, or Karuppannasamy or Karuppu, is a deity who is very popular in Tamil Nadu, especially in the rural areas. He is a folk or village deity, like Lord Ayyanar, also worshipped by Tamils.
While Ayyanar is a guardian of villages and agricultural lands, and is depicted riding a horse, sword in hand, Karuppasamy is a deity of justice and protection. He has a fierce appearance and carries a bow and arrow.
Both deities are worshipped in village temples, where devotees offer them sacrifices.

Karuppaswamy is a dark-skinned, muscular god with a ferocious appearance. He wears a loincloth and holds weapons like a bow, arrow, or spear. His eyes are fiery pink in color, signifying his vigilant and aggressive nature.

Rituals of Worship The worship of Karuppuswamy is based on a system related to ancient ancestral clans. The priests are usually non-Brahmins and hail from local lineages that established the religion ages ago.
