Brahmahatya Dosha in Kundli: Impact and Remedies

Brahmahatya, or Brahmanahatya, is a Sanskrit word that means "the killing of a Brahmin". ‘Brahma’ refers to Lord Brahma, the Creator archetype, while Hatya refers to killing.
The Manusmriti says that the murder of a Brahmin is the greatest sin and the highest of the Mahapathakas or mortal sins.
Hindu texts like the Puranas personify Brahmahatya as a hideous woman who has red hair and wears blue robes. She is said to laugh boisterously and chase those who kill Brahmins.
In Vedic astrology, Brahmahatya is a terrible affliction caused due to serious karmic debts. It can have an adverse impact on one’s health, wealth, and relationships.
Brahmahatya Dosha in Astrology
In Hindu society, Brahmins are regarded as the highest varna or caste. The reason has to do with their vocation. Their role in society was to pursue spiritual knowledge and perform sacred rituals. Hence, killing a Brahmin is a grave sin.
Those who have killed a Brahmin will incur Brahmahatya Dosha and this will reflect in their horoscope. This Dosha has terrible consequences. Even killing a cow can cause Brahmahatya Dosha in your Kundali.
Unlike other Doshas, this one relates to your past life and is rooted in the idea of Karma, the cosmic law of cause and effect. This Dosha forms due to the sins committed in one’s past life, and one must repay these karmic debts in the present life. It does not always mean causing harm to Brahmins but signifies karmic imbalances that cause adverse effects in the person’s life. Some astrologers claim that the Dosha arises when people do bad karma and deceitful acts. This blocks their path to spiritual enlightenment.
Sins that Cause Brahmahatya Dosha
There are many sins that can cause one to incur Brahmahatya Dosha. They are given below:
