Legend of Sawariya Seth Temple

Sawariya Seth Temple

The legend of Sawariya Seth Temple is interesting. In 1840, Bholaram Gurjar, a milkman, dreamt of three divine statues buried in the Chapar village. When digging the place, he found three statues, as Bholaram dreamt. They were Krishna's statues, and all of them were mesmerizing. Out of them, he installed one idol at Mandaphia, the other at Bhadsoda, and the third at the same place where he found the idols. Later, beautiful temples were built in all three places. This is the famous temple called the Sanwaliya Ji temple. Shri Krishna is also known as Saanwalia Ji, Sawara Seth, Seth of Seth, and Saawariya Seth.

The Architecture of Sawariya Seth Temple

The architecture of the Sawariya Seth temple reflects the North Indian Hindu temples' architectural style. The temple has a large gate with colorful designs and motifs. In 1978, the flag was hoisted in the temple in the presence of a huge gathering. The construction, expansion, and beautification works of the Sawariya Seth Temple, which started in 1961, are continuing even today.

The attractive and magnificent idol of Shri Krishna sits in the temple's sanctum sanctorum. The size of the sanctum sanctorum is very large. Priests conduct various rituals comfortably there. People can see a huge 36 feet high shikhara on top of the temple. The roof and floor of the temple resemble traditional Hindu temples.

The temple's main hall (mandap) has a series of intricately carved pillars. It houses several small shrines of other deities. Devotees can see attractively carved idols of local deities on the temple walls. These carvings further improve the temple's beauty.
