The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple is a beautiful Hindu shrine at Poicha Village, Gujarat. It is on the banks of the River Narmada and looks like an island. It is one of the famous tourist spots near Vadodara. The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple is constructed on a large area of land.
 
           Shri Vadtal Swaminarayan Gurukul of Rajkot built this temple in 2013. Swaminarayan is the presiding deity of the Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple. He was also called Sahjanand.
It is believed to be where Shiva consumed the halahala poison that emerged during the Samudra Manthan, turning his throat blue; hence the name "Nilkanth," which means "blue-throated." The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple is one of the most beautiful constructions on the lands of Poicha. The temple is mainly built using sandstone and is dedicated to Swaminarayan.
The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple is spread over an area of 24 acres. A big idol of Swaminarayan at 151 feet high, and over 1100 idols related to Indian culture and Hindu pilgrimage, Water Park, Science City, Yampuri Darshan, Bhul Bhulaiya, 3D Lights and Sound Shows, and theatres are part of the temple.
The Shiva Linga is in an artificial pond, and a beautiful fountain covers the main temple. Using a peacock-shaped boat, visitors can access the Shiva Linga. The carvings of Hindu mythological figures adorn the walls of the temple.
The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple is also called the Poicha Temple. The temple area is clean and well-maintained. The idols of Vishnu with Sheshnag, Ganesha, Hanuman, 108 Gaumukh, Saptarishi, and 12 Vishnu Avatars are in the main temple.
The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple’s main attraction is the evening Aarti of Swaminarayan. Visitors can see a giant elephant pulling the bell with its trunk during the Aarti time. The temple performs Rathyatra every evening before sunset, another prominent attraction here. The idol of Swaminarayan will be on an elephant, and it will go around the temple accompanied by dancers and bhajan singers. The evening light show attracts a massive crowd in the temple.
The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple offers pure Swaminarayan vegetarian food without onion and garlic and permits visitors to stay for a short time at reasonable rates. It takes 1 to 3 hours to see the entire Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple.
It has many sectors like the exhibition zone, the parking zone, the Kids' Play zone, the Food court, etc. The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple looks spectacular in the evenings, especially when the light show is going on. The Prasad is delicious. The place is quite beautiful and serene. The temple has a food court with many food stalls offering a delicious variety of foods. Visitors can enjoy many types of food here.
Sahjanand Universe is a museum cum amusement park on the temple premises. It is a great draw for children and has many sections. The entrance area starts with a garden. Visitors can see the sculptures of Saraswati, Krishna Leela, Swaminarayan Bhagwan, Shankar Bhagwan, and Ganesh on the walkway. Two interesting horror houses are there for kids. Boat rides through the artificial forest are enthralling. Sahjanand Universe entrance ticket is Rs. 150 per adult.

The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple remains open from 6.00 am to 12.00 pm and from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm. Morning Aarti timing is 5.00 am to 6.00 am, and evening Aarti timing is 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm.
Sahjanand Universe timing is 1.00 pm to 7.00 pm.
The light show timing is 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm.
Statue of Unity, Zarwani Waterfall, Toran Mandal village, Kayavarohan Lakulish temple, Sardar Sarovar Dam, Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, and Kuber Bhandari Temple are nearby attractions.
