To further raise Arjun’s trust and devotion toward the Supreme, Shri Krishna now shows his Vishwarupa or the infinite cosmic form. Here we will know the conversation about the same.

Arjun said: O Krishna, my illusion is now dispelled by listening to the confidential spiritual knowledge you gave me. I have heard about your eternal majesty and I believe that you are what you described yourself.

O Supreme Lord, I now wish to see your cosmic form that shows the whole you and that is your Vishwarupa.

The Supreme Lord said: O Parth, this is the time when you will see my cosmic avatar. Observe Parth what you see and know what all lives within me. You will now see my wonderful form.

Anegudde Vinayaka

Behold in me, O scion of the Bharatas, you will now witness the entire universe, all the moving and non-moving beings. You will see everything else and nothing will be left anymore.

However Arjun, you can’t see my cosmic form with these human eyes. I will now grant you the divine vision with which you will be able to see my cosmic form and handle it.

Sanjay said: O King, having said this, the Supreme Lord Krishna displayed his cosmic form to Arjun.

In that cosmic form, Arjun saw unlimited faces and eyes, there were divine weapons, celestial ornaments, he wore many kinds of garlands, there were heavenly fragrances, and the face of the Lord was everywhere.

He saw thousands Suns, Moons, and stars; there is no end of his splendor. Arjun saw the entire cosmic at one place where there were all the Gods and celestial Gods. Seeing the giant view, Arjun got terrified, he couldn’t understand how to react. He got goosebumps all over his body. He was full of wonder and couldn’t utter a word. Gathered all his courage, Arjun bowed his head with folded hands in front of the Lord.

Arjun said: O Shri Krishna, I observed within your body, there were all the Gods and different beings. There was Brahma sitting on the Lotus, there was Shiv and all celestial serpents.

There were countless faces, arms, stomachs, and eyes. O Lord, I now understand that you are the Universe itself and Universe is your form; I did not see any beginning, middle, or end of you.

I see you adorned with your crown and armed with a club and a disc. Your spendor is everywhere, and it is hard to set the gaze upon you because of your blazing fire and shine which is shinier than a Sun.

I now understand and recognize you as the imperishable being. You are the Supreme and the truth of the scriptures. You are the creator and the eternal protector. Only your Supreme personality is everlasting.

You have powers which are limitless. You are infinite, you are the Sun, Moon, and Universe. The Sun and Moon are your eyes and the Fire is your mouth. The entire creation is run by your warmth.

You live in everything and everywhere and even the space between the Earth and Heaven is filled by you. I am trembling in fear, O Lord as I have seen all the worlds in you.

All the celestial Gods are in your shelter. They are praising you and praying with their folded hands. There are great sages in you who are admiring you with their hymns and prayers.

I saw the Rudras, Adityas, Vasus, Sadhyas, Vishvadevas, Ashwini Kumars, Maruts, ancestors, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Asuras, and Siddhas, all in you.

O mighty Lord, everyone is worshipping your uncountable faces, eyes, legs, stomachs, and terrifying teeth. Every being in you is terrified by your cosmic look and so am I.

O Lord Vishnu, your form is so giant it is touching the sky infused with many colors. My mouth is wide open and my eyes can’t believe what they see. I have lost all my courage and peace; my mind is clueless about what to do or how to feel; you are beyond my senses, O Almighty.

O Lord of lords, please have mercy on me. I forget where I am and do not know where to go. I have seen your raging fire at the time of extinction. I see all the sons of Dhritarashtra and all their kings, Gurus, and entities like Bheeshma, Dronacharya, Karn, and everyone else. I see them all rushing into your mouth and getting smashed between your terrible teeth.

Just like many rivers flow and enter the vast oceans, I saw all the great warriors entering your mouth and burning in your fire. I saw how you consumed all living beings and in your blazing mouth. O Vishnu, your scorching fire is baking the entire Universe and your radiance is everywhere.

O Gods of god, I bow down to you, please have mercy on me. O Lord I wish to know who you are, I am unaware of your nature and working.

The Supreme Lord said: I am time, I am the time which is endless. I am the source of destruction who consumes everything that is here in the Universe. Even if you don’t participate, the warriors of the armies are destined to consumed by me.

Therefore, Arjun, take this honor to support the cosmic plan. O Arjun, take your weapons and conquer your enemies because that is what a great warrior does and that is what you are destoned for. O Arjun you are an expert archer for a reason, I wanted you to perform in the war field and establish an example of Dharma against Adharm.

All the great warriors are already consumed by my fire. You just need to be the mediator to kill their physical self and assist order of nature. Fight Arjun because you will be victorious in this war.

Sanjay said:Hearing these words of Krishna, Arjun got anxious. He joined his palms and he bowed before Krishna. He spoke in a broken voice with fear.

Sanjay said: Hearing these words of Krishna, Arjun got anxious. He joined his palms, and he bowed before Krishna. Then, he spoke in a broken voice with fear.

Arjun praises Shri Krishna by saying, O Master of the senses, the Universe rejoices you and admires you. But, demons are fearful and escape in all directions.

O Krishna, you are the greatest one, even greater than Brahma, the original creator. You are limitless, and you are truly imperishable. You are the reality beyond all the manifestations in both material and spiritual worlds.

You are the sole source in the Universe, and everything rests in you. You are the Supreme Abode, and you are the infinite forms. You are so huge that you pervade the entire Universe.

I now know that you are the wind, the God of Fire, the death, water, Moon; you are the creator, and you are the father to all. O Krishna, please accept my thousands of salutations in front of you. Accept my salutations from all sides, from the front and the rear.

O Krishna, you are the Almighty, and I was thinking of you as my friend. “O Yadav,” “O my dear mate,” I was unaware of your Supreme power; I made a mistake to consider you a mere human. I disrespected you many times while eating, playing, resting, sitting. I beg forgiveness for all those times O Madhava.

You run the entire Universe, and you infuse breath into it. Nothing is beyond you, and no one is equal to you in all three worlds.

Therefore, O Lord, I am deeply bowing down before you. As a father tolerates his son, a friend forgives another friend, and as a lover pardons the beloved, please forgive me, Lord.

I felt immense joy by your universal form. I was in awe, and I was wordless. I lost my senses, and I trembled with fear. O God of gods, please have mercy on me.

O thousand-armed one, I now wish to see you in your four-armed avatar holding the mace and disc and wearing the crown.

The Lord said: O Arjun, since you are my dear friend, I bestowed you with the divine power to see my cosmic form. No one before has seen anything like this.

No study of Vedas, no amount of sacrifices, austerities, and rituals made any devotee see what you have seen today.

Do not be afraid, Arjun. Be cheerful and be fearless; once again, observe me in my personal form.

Sanjay said: Having said this, Krishna displays himself in his four-armed avatar. Then Krishna went back to his two-arm avatar at the request of Arjun.

When Krishna returns to his normal form, Arjun said, that O Krishna, by seeing you again in the human form, I am now feeling composed again, and my mind is restored.

Krishna says: O Arjun, with pure devotion toward me, I can be known as I am. You received my divine vision, and hence, O scorcher of foes, you could enter into union with me.

Thus, all those who perform their duties and sacrifice them to me get free from this Maya world. Those who are free from worldly attachment get attached to me, and such devotees certainly come to me.
