Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy or Tadbund Hanuman Temple is in the Sikh village, Bowenpally, Secunderabad. It is an old Hanuman temple. Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy is the main deity in the Tadbund Hanuman Temple.
According to the Tadbund Hanuman Temple's legend, Rama sent Hanuman to bring the Sanjeevani herb to revive Lakshmana. Hanuman stopped at where the temple is now located to rest for a while. The locals offered him food and water, and he blessed them. It is believed that the Tadbund Hanuman Temple was built at the same spot where Hanuman had rested.
This Tadbund Hanuman Temple has a large Mukha Mandapa, sanctum (Garbha Gudi), Vimana, and Maharajah Gopurams.
The presiding deity of the Tadbund Hanuman Temple is Sri Veeranjaneya Swami, a Swayambhu. The idol of Sri Vinayaka Swami is also Swayambhu. He stands to the left of Sri Veeranjaneya Swami on the same large rock inside the sanctum. This is a unique feature where both Hanuman and Vinayaka are Swayambhu and worshipped at the same place by their devotees.
Sri Veeranjaneya Swami's Vahanam (divine vehicle) is Ushtra (camel), can be seen on the temple premises before his idol. The camel is made of granite blocks covered with silver plates.
Sri Veeranjaneya Swami is recognized as one of Shiva's avatars. Hence, people can see Shiva Panchyatnam in this temple. There is also an idol of Nagraj, which represents Subramanya Swami as a serpent.
There is a Navagraha temple in the Tadbund Hanuman Temple premises. Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Shiva Lingam, Parvati, Vishnu, Vinayaka, and Surya idols are present in the temple premises.
Sri Suvarchala Veeranjaneya Swamy is revered as Utsavar in the Tadbund Hanuman Temple. According to a legend, Suvarchala, the daughter of Surya (Sun God), is the consort of Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy. Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy had to marry Suvarchala Devi to complete his Nava Vyakaranas (nine grammars) studies, as completing the studies was only possible for a Grihastha (married man). As Sri Veeranjaneya Swami devoted his entire life to Sri Rama seva, both Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy and Suvarchala Devi practiced celibacy (Brahmacharya) despite being married.
Tadbund Hanuman Temple also has an Ashwatha Vruksham (Raavi Chettu), Bilvadala Vruksham, Maaredu Vruksham, Nimba Vruksham (Neem Tree), Shami Vruksham (Jammi Chettu), and Usiri (Amla) chettu in the Devasthanam buildings which the devotees revere.
Hanuman Jayanti, the birth of Hanuman, and Sri Rama Navami, the birth of Sri Rama, are the main festivals of the Tadbund Hanuman Temple. During Hanuman Jayanthi, the Shobha Yatra rally is held in Hyderabad, which will finally end at the Tadbund Hanuman Temple. Thousands of devotees take part in this Shobha Yatra.
Sri Suvarchala Veeranjaneya Kalyanotsavam, Sri Vari Visheshotsavam, and Annakuta Mahotsavam are the other main festivals in the Tadbund Hanuman Temple. It also celebrates Shani Trayodashi. Devotees visit the temple from various parts of the city to pray to Shani to get relief from all Shani doshas.
