Legend of the Srimushnam Bhoo Varahaswamy Vishnu Temple

Srimushnam Bhoo Varahaswamy Vishnu Temple

The Srimushnam Bhoo Varahaswamy Vishnu Temple legend is associated with Varaha, the boar avatar of Vishnu. The demon king Hiranyaksha dominated the earth and netherworld. The earth goddess Bhudevi prayed to Vishnu to rescue her. Pleased by her prayers, Vishnu appeared at this place in the form of Varaha, a boar, and killed Hiranyaksha.

The temple tank Nithya Pushkarani was created as the sweat of the Bhoo Varahaswamy dropped here. As a death wish, the demon asked Vishnu to turn in his direction, and Vishnu agreed.

Vishnu faces the demon in the south, while his body faces the west at this temple.
