The eleventh day of the lunar cycle during the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon) and Krishna Paksha (waning moon) is celebrated as Ekadasi. Among these, Vaikunta Ekadasi is one of the most prominent. It is believed that on Vaikunta Ekadasi day the gates of Vaikunta (Lord Vishnu’s abode) open and offer an opportunity to get Moksha (spiritual liberation).
