Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that is celebrated with joy and devotion. It is an occasion where families and communities come together and celebrate with rituals, traditions and music. Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 is on August 27th, and the Muhurat for Pooja is between 11:06 AM and 1:40 PM. Here is a guide to know more about this festival.
History Of The Festival
The festival has a long history and is rooted in devotion and faith. It began with legends from Hindu sacred texts, only to later become a festival that brought communities together.
According to sacred Hindu texts, Lord Ganesha was created by Goddess Parvati to guard her while bathing. Parvati asked Ganesha not to allow anyone inside. When Lord Shiva tried to enter, he was stopped by Ganesha. This led to an argument, and in anger, Shiva cut Ganesha’s head. When Goddess Parvati saw this, she was in sorrow. Shiva, realising his mistake, asked his servants to get a head. They brought back an elephant head, and Shiva placed it on Ganesha’s body and brought him back to life. He was blessed with patience, wisdom and intelligence and from that day, he became a deity who brought new beginnings and a remover of obstacles.
