If there is one question that most people in the world would like to find the answer to, it’s ‘When will I die?” Though the answer may not be to our liking, we are still fascinated by the question. Death is definitely one of the biggest mysteries of Nature. It can come both announced and unannounced. Rich or poor, young or old, it makes no difference to Death. In other words, it is the great leveler. In the Mahabharatha, there is an incident where the Pandavas encounter death in the form of a Yaksha who lived in a lake. During their exile, when the Pandavas were living in the forest, a brahmin approached them and asked them to recover the sacred grass which a deer had run away with. Yudhishtira sent his brothers to find it, but none of them returned. Finally, when he went in search of them, he saw them lying dead on the banks of a lake. Not knowing what had befallen them, he felt shocked. As he felt thirsty, he tried to drink some water from the lake. Suddenly, he heard a voice that warned him not to drink the water from the lake as he would die, like his brothers. It was the voice of the Yaksha who lived in the lake. The Yaksha told him that he had to answer his questions first before drinking, or he would die. Yudhishtira agreed, and the Yaksha asked many questions. Yudhishtira answered them correctly. One of them was, “What is the most amazing thing in the world?” Yudhishtira’s answer was, “Though human beings are mortal, they act as if they will live forever.”

Yudhishtira spoke truly. If we accept that death is inevitable, we would be more mindful of our actions on earth. Astrology studies how the planets and stars impact human destiny. An astrologer will be able to predict the time of a person’s death from his/her horoscope. The planetary placements in the horoscope will indicate the period when death is most likely to occur. Even though many people ask astrologers when they will die, most astrologers shy away from giving a precise answer for many reasons. Some even excuse themselves saying that astrologers are not supposed to make predictions about the death of a person.

One reason why people want to know when or how they will die is that they want to prevent it. For instance, if the astrologer predicts that they will have an accident, they may become more careful about their safety. Or, if they are likely to get some disease, they may go for regular check-ups to detect it early and take suitable treatment.

The exact time of death is actually very difficult to predict in astrology. It depends on the planetary positions, Dasha, and Sub-Dasha period. There are no short cuts or unique methods to predict the event. Many elements, factors, and combinations may cause death. Astrology indicates things that may or may not happen. Only by looking at the positions of all the planets in conjunction with the Sun in the natal chart along with the Dasha system, can the time be arrived at. Some of the planets that are karakas of death are Saturn, Uranus, Pluto, Neptune, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Sun.

Saturn – Saturn/Shani signifies both beginnings and endings in life.

Venus – When Venus/Shukra is prominent in a chart, the person may die in his/her sleep, or they may die peacefully after going through a long illness. Venus has the power to ease suffering.

Jupiter – Jupiter/Guru rules tumors. It can indicate cancer or death due to an incurable disease. This will be seen clearly if Jupiter is activated by transits in a natal chart. It may cause a slow death.

Mars – Mars/Mangal can denote violence or violent death. As it rules things like fire, guns, and knives, death may be the result of a fire, shooting, or stabbing. It will be sudden and traumatic. Death due to Mars aspect is swift.

Pluto - Pluto is linked to violent death and serious trauma. For example, a sudden aneurysm that brings instant death, or an accident resulting in a fatal injury.

Uranus – Uranus is, in many ways, the opposite of Saturn. It indicates sudden events; thus, death may come out of the blue, in a totally unexpected way. Uranus also rules accidents and surgery. The planet is associated with bizarre and unexpected events.

Neptune – Neptune rules water, so it can indicate death by drowning or an accident in the water. When Neptune in a chart is activated at the time of their death, the death may be inexplicable, or it may occur during sleep.

Sun - The position of the Sun with other planets can help predict death. Its position in the natal chart gives a clue about how the person will die.

The planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, often stand in for the entities, Rahu and Ketu, of Vedic astrology. The traits of Rahu and Ketu, which are Lunar Nodes, and have no existence, are seen to be distributed among these three planets in the solar system. Uranus is seen to have Rahu’s traits, Neptune has the traits of Ketu, and Pluto has the qualities of Rahu, Ketu, and Saturn.

Let’s now see what manner of death is likely for various Moon signs.

Aries: Kidney failure and infections

Taurus: Diabetes or related complications.

Gemini: Falling from a big height.

Cancer: Gastric problems and falling from a height.

Leo: Diabetes and related complications

Virgo: Heat, fire, and electricity, fights, or firearms.

Libra: Infection in neck or tying of rope around neck, alcohol addiction

Scorpio: Poison, reaction to drugs and medicines.

Sagittarius: Drowning in water/heart attack.

Capricorn: Heat and fire, high fever, stomach ulcer, and liver failure.

Aquarius: Reaction to drugs and medicines.

Pisces: AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, alcohol.addiction

When different planets happen to occupy the eighth house or the Ascendant, the reasons for death will change. The shadow planet known as Dragon’s head (Rahu) causes death by accidents and snake bite, while the Dragon’s tail (Ketu) leads to death by lightning and supernatural activities if they are in the in Ascendant or the eighth house of the birthchart.

Wanting to know the manner and timing of our death is only natural. But some astrologers feel that it is better not to know such things, as the knowledge may haunt the person and prevent them from enjoying their life fully, especially if there is an indication of untimely or violent death in the birthchart. But if one merely wants to be careful and avoid things that may cause danger to life, there is no harm in knowing. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

If you want to know more about this, you can chat with an online astrologer. Using your birth details, he/she will be able to answer such questions.
