Marital Matching

Quite a few essential factors make human life worth living in this world. A crucial one among these factors is good affinity. It is the congenial relationship between a husband, and a wife makes life exciting and satisfying.

The institution of marriage is something that is held extremely sacred in our land. Hence, elders in India, who celebrate traditional weddings, generally known as arranged marriages, attach great importance to the compatibility factor between the prospective bride and groom. The process of finding out this concord between the two is known as Matchmaking or Marital-matching. This is done by the matching of the birth charts, known as Horoscopes (Kundalis). This Marital-matching of the boy and girl will act as an indicator to show if they can make a good pair and lead a happy married life together, and can be utilized for identifying and uniting congenial couples so that they can form agreeable life partners and lead a happy married life together.

The Process of Marital-matching

The marital-matching process involves the reading of the horoscopes of the boy and the girl, for assessing their merits and demerits and very importantly, their agreeability as life partners and the viability of their marriages.

The parameters taken into consideration for this compatibility assessment between the prospective couple are generally 8 in number and are known as ‘Gunas.’ Hence, the horoscope matching process itself is known as Ashtakoot, the matching of the 8 Gunas. These parameters are – Vashya, the attraction; Tara, longevity; Varna, class; Nadi, the blessing of progeny; Gan, mental strength; Bhakoot, mutual influence; Yoni, nature; and Graha Maitri, friendship.

With values attached to every one of these ‘Gunas,’ such ‘Guna’ assessments add up to a maximum of 36 points. While agreement in all these 36 points will make a perfect match, matching of at least half of this, that is 18 points, is believed to be required for going ahead with any marital union.

Adverse Indicators

There are quite a few astrologically accepted aspects, which may indicate strains in marital relationships or even possible breakup. The following are a few of such factors:

When the Lagnas, the Ascendants, which are perhaps the critical aspects in any horoscope, of the prospective bride and groom are in a mutual 2/12 or 6/8 relationship, the married life may come under severe stress.

When the House of the zodiac sign Aries is occupied by the Sun in case of the husband and by Saturn, for the wife, the two may encounter ego clashes.

In case there are adverse indicators in respect of relationships, in the individual natal charts of the boy or the girl, the quality of their marital bond may suffer due to one reason or the other.

Mangal Dosha, the Mars affliction, remains perhaps the most feared single aspect that may cast a dark shadow on marital harmony.

Also, afflictions to planets Mars and Venus; to the planetary Lord of the Lagnas or of the 7th House; or to the Lagna (Ascendant) or the 7th House, can also be the cause for concern concerning a peaceful marriage.

Remedies as Healing Factors

It is Almighty God alone, who knows what is there really in store for an individual and a relationship, in future. Hence, it makes sense to seek divine help and mercy for building a successful relationship.

There are many simple remedies, which can be performed for overcoming afflictions indicated in horoscopes.
