Who could have predicted that the world would be facing a health crisis of such magnitude, a couple of months ago? The crisis, caused by a tiny virus, has brought the entire human race to its knees and today, most nations are in lockdown in a desperate attempt to control the epidemic. Borders have been closed, air, rail and road transport stopped, and people quarantined in their homes or hospitals, to check the spread of the deadly infection. Hospitals are unable to cope with the load, with even health professionals falling prey to the virus.
Though many people have switched to working from home, there are others who have no choice but to turn up for work. If you are one among them, it is worthwhile to keep in mind certain things that can protect you from the virus at the workplace.
No more handshakes
Since the virus spreads through touch, avoid shaking hands with anyone. A simple namaste with folded hands will suffice, or even a slight bow of the head, or a friendly smile.
Keep a hand sanitizer with you always
If you have touched any surfaces, use a hand sanitizer to disinfect your hands.
Wash hands well with soap
After using the restroom, wash your hands thoroughly with soap.
Avoid touching your face, nose, and mouth
The reason is so lethal is that it affects the lungs and causes pneumonia.
Cover your mouth with a napkin when coughing or sneezing
This prevents the droplets from falling on others and spreading the infection.
Disinfect all surfaces – tables, desks, doorknobs, handrails, etc.
This will destroy the virus.
Increase ventilation
Keep windows open or adjust the air conditioning.
Switch to videoconferencing
Hold meetings via videoconferencing. If this is not possible, hold the meeting in an open and well-ventilated place. It is best to avoid large meetings and gatherings.
Avoid all travel
This is very difficult as most businesses have a global footprint, but international travel must be avoided. In any case, most countries have closed their borders to all except their own citizens.
Avoid food sharing
Screen the health of all the office cafeteria staff and their contacts. Make sure that they practice strict hygiene. It’s better to bring food from home.
Stay home, if unwell
If you have symptoms like cold, fever, cough, etc., stay home until the illness is cured. It’s better not to take a risk on our own lives and others.
Protect yourself from the virus by following these simple measures. If you need protection of a higher order, participate in our Free Homa invoking the divine protection of 3 celestial beings – Lord Dhannvantri, Goddess Durga, and Lord Bhairava.
