Eclipses bring change and evolution. During a lunar eclipse, unconscious feelings come to the surface and become grounded in reality. Lunar eclipses bring an end to emotional cycles that have run their course. Thus, they encourage people to let go of emotions and attachments that do not serve us anymore. The eclipse is a very powerful time for cleansing our emotions and seeding the intention for renewal and rejuvenation in the upcoming months.

During a lunar eclipse, the sun blocks the illumination that creates a full moon for a moment. This resets the current emotional cycle and allows the shadow to reveal things hidden in our subconscious or preventing us from seeing more clearly. The Moon’s spiritual aspects signify our deep emotional tides. Hence, when the shadow passes over the Moon, temporarily blocking the illumination of our emotional being, it presents an opportunity to reveal and change our current emotional state.

Lunar Eclipses in astrology are viewed as being deeply transformative times that can trigger sudden changes. While this is a fact, there is another side to eclipses, too. They can be seen as the Universe’s cosmic helping hand. To understand it better, just imagine the eclipse’s energy acting as a hand from heaven itself and putting you right where you need to be. This is often a time of abandoning what is safe and comfortable so that you can grow more fully into yourself.

One good thing about eclipses is that you can trust the direction they are guiding you towards. Eclipses cause events that are actually part of the cosmic plan. During such times, you need to reflect upon your life, whom you have to forgive, or what you should let go of and move on from.

Eclipses are quite rare as they take place only when the Sun, the Earth, and the Moon are all aligned. They happen in groups of two or three. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon and the Sun are on the exact opposite sides of the Earth.

There are four to seven eclipses every year. Usually, there are two eclipse seasons.

The year 2021 has 4 eclipses - 2 solar eclipses and 2 lunar eclipses. The upcoming eclipse season commences on May 26, 2021, starting with a Super Full Blood Moon Eclipse. Sometimes total lunar eclipses are called Blood Moons because of the reddish-orange hue of the moon during the eclipse. On the eclipse day, the Full Moon will be closest to the Earth, so it will look larger in the sky, thereby making it a Blood Super Moon eclipse.

The next eclipse is a partial solar eclipse on June 10, 2021, followed by a penumbral lunar eclipse on November 18-19, 2021, and then a total solar eclipse on December 4, 2021.

A time to embrace change and honor life cycles

The Full Moon’s energy is always that of a cycle coming to a crescendo or reaching completion of its essence and influence. It is a chance to let go of an aspect of your emotional experience, one that you have outgrown. It is also a time for anchoring oneself in new wisdom or maturity that one gained in the previous cycle. It is a great time for releasing something that is no longer of use to you.

Endings are needed to make way for the new, and a Lunar Eclipse is rather like the last purge or cleansing of an emotional cycle. If something should be gone from your life, if something has to come to an end, an eclipse will help you to set in concrete the intention of completion in the external world.

Each full moon brings us an opportunity to embrace changes, let go, and seek a greater connection with the Divine. We can experience this connection just by being mindful and present to the cycles of nature, the seasons, and the life that is all around us.

If we can develop a spiritual practice that is rooted in earth-based wisdom and honoring the lunar cycles and seasonal cycles of change and growth, we will be able to live in peace and harmony.

The full moon is the ideal time to release attachments or barriers to our worthiness. It can help us open ourselves to greater inspiration. The full moon’s energy is always that of a cycle reaching the height of its current resonance. If there is something you have to let go of or some changes you need to make, a full moon eclipse will help you to let go of it and embrace the new.

In order to help you to make use of the energies of release and ring in new changes, you can do a small ritual on the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. It could be lighting a candle or writing down your intention on paper and then burning it.

This Lunar Eclipse energy will be present through the beginning of the new year. It will also open a new energy gateway that is active, productive, and positive. Growth and change can come only when we let go of the things that are of no use to us anymore. But most of us fear change as we are afraid of the unknown.

We prefer things that we are familiar with, and so even our worst habits serve us by keeping us comfortable. For real change, we need to be aware of our emotions. We can embrace a new way of being by honoring ourselves and life’s natural rhythms.

Whatever is unfolding in your life, trust it and be assured that it is all for a higher purpose.
