3 Moons to Honor Your Ancestors with Lord Karuppasamy

Thai Amavasya is the only New Moon for Ancestors while the Sun is in its Northern ‘renewal’ phase. 2. Adi Amavasya The 1st New Moon after the Sun starts moving South (August 6th IST) 3. Mahalaya Amavasya– the New Moon in the Tamil month of Purattasi (Mahalaya Fortnight: September 20 – October 4 IST) The most powerful way of honoring your ancestors is by performing the Tarpanam ritual. The word “Tarpanam” means “satisfying” or “satiating”. Tarpanam involves making special offerings to thank your ancestors for their contribution to your life, and pray for peace to their souls. The best way to connect with your ancestors is to perform Tarpanam on New Moon days especially Thai Amavasya.
