Introduction

Having an offspring is considered as one of the greatest blessings of life. It is also regarded as the principal purpose of marriage and family life. The intense emotions of the parents who bring a new life into existence and hold it close to their hearts, are something which cannot at all be described but can only be experienced. Children are considered the most precious gifts of the Almighty. Many are the reasons for people longing for progeny. Children satisfy the emotional needs of the parents and elders, while also continuing the family tree and the lineage. This hymn invokes Lord Krishna as a baby. Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was a born prodigy and an exceptional genius. His childish pranks were as loveable, as his heroic feats were admirable. Hence this adorable baby, became an object of worship right from his birth. It is believed that the chanting of this sloka, which describes the divine beauty and grace of Krishna, with faith can get the blessings of the benevolent Lord and bestow the devotees with male progeny.

Lambaalakam lambhitha haara yashtim

Shrunkaara leelaankitha dantapanktim

bimbaadharam chaaruvishaala netram

baalam mukundam manasa smaraami

TRANSLATION:

My mind remembers that Beautiful Bala Mukundan, who has long curly hair, who wears a Long Garland, whose rows of teeth reflect an enchanting smile, whose lips are lovely like Bimba fruits; and whose eyes are wide and lovely.
