Just when India began to recover from its first wave, a ferocious second wave has devastated the country, stretching our healthcare resources to the limit and taking a deadly toll that only keeps rising each day. With many new strains and variants arising as the virus mutates, many countries are still in the grip of the pandemic, with so sign of an ending in sight. The scarcity of vaccines, too, has been a stumbling block in dealing with the problem.

Why Mantras?

India’s ancient rishis and saints have always known and used the power of Mantras (chants) to solve problems. During this great health and economic crisis, people are feeling fear, panic, confusion, insecurity, anxiety, and depression. Many are exhibiting suicidal behavior, and some who fell ill have taken their own lives as well, in fear. When chanting a Mantra, we use the collective power of intention along with the power of the Mantra to achieve our purpose. It can be protection, abundance, or overall well-being that we seek. Chanting Mantras also gives us the strength and resilience to face our problems bravely. We can also pray for the health and well-being of all those who are suffering due to this global crisis, including frontline workers, our neighborhoods, people in other countries, the environment, and Mother Earth.

The Process

A period of 41 days, called a mandala, is a spiritually auspicious period to bring about a major transformation and for achieving a specific objective. A mandala of chanting can be done for our welfare or the greater good of our families, communities, country, and Mother Earth.

You can chant any of the following mantras for 15min daily or as long as you can. You can also play some of the chants and meditate while listening to them.

The Atharva Veda has three disease eliminating chants:

  • Krimi Jambhana and Krimi Nashana Suktams
  • Adarvana Kirumi Samhara Suktam
  • Krimi Samhara Suktam

Krimi Samhara Suktam is a sacred hymn that is believed to have the power to eliminate all diseases and the germs that cause them. Revealed by Sages Atri, Kanva, and Jamadagni, this hymn, according to the Scriptures, can kill any germ and cure illnesses.

Chanting or listening to this powerful protection Mantra can bestow these benefits:

  • Cure fever and illness, and prevent untimely death
  • Boost vitality and health
  • Get rid of the fear of negative forces
  • Relief from karmic problems

How to Chant:

  • Place a picture of your favorite deity in the Pooja area.
  • Light a lamp or candle before the picture.
  • Make a clear intention. Pray for the self, family, community, country, frontline workers, government, environment, and Earth.
  • If you are not chanting, play the chant and meditate as you listen to it.
  • Focus and chant continuously, looking at the picture occasionally.
  • Centers and groups can get together and organize chanting sessions too.
  • If many people are chanting together, it is better to chant separately using separate pictures and lamps.
