Our eyes twitch or blink sometimes for no reason. Sometimes it may be the right eye and sometimes, the left. When this happens, perhaps our grandmother or some other elderly person might have said that it was a good or bad omen. Some of us might have scoffed at her remark too and forgotten all about it, the next instant. So, is there any truth in what they said? While it’s a fact that there are scientific reasons for the blinking and twitching of our eyes, there are some occult reasons too for the phenomenon. In astrology, such things come under the study of Omens. Both in the eastern and western traditions of astrology, the study of Omens is a distinctive segment. Since ancient times, people have believed that omens can predict the future and that they are messages from the gods. An omen may be good or bad. If a black cat crosses your path, it is widely regarded as a bad omen in most cultures. Comets too are seen as good or bad omens. For King Harold II of England, Halley’s comet was a bad omen.

In this manner, Hindus in India, too, believe in omens and their power to predict future events. The Vedas and Shastras offer interpretations of such omens. Thus, blinking or twitching of the eyes is regarded as an omen, and its interpretation is different for men and women. Also, it can be both auspicious or inauspicious, depending on which eye is twitching and for whom. In this article, we will see if the twitching of the left eye is good for men. 

Significance of eye-twitching

The Samudra Shastra says that if a man’s right eye twitches, it is good for him. If it’s the left eye, then all his wishes will be granted. He may get a promotion, get a financial windfall, or meet a beloved. But if the left eyebrow and left eyelid is twitching, it is not a good omen. It can also indicate some problems with an old enemy, or there will be a renewal or increase in the hostility. If the left eye's lowest part twitches, there is a possibility of an argument and the likelihood of public humiliation. If the left eye's upper part – near the nose - twitches, it augurs an inauspicious event in the near future. If the part of the left eye near the ear twitches, health problems may occur in the future. If it’s the middle part of the left eye, chances are that the person may lose some money.   

Eye-twitching in Chinese astrology

In Chinese astrology, the twitching of the left eye is regarded as auspicious. But if it’s the right eye, it foretells misfortune. If it’s a woman, it’s the opposite. If the eyelid below the left eye tears, it indicates that a sad event may follow, or rumors are being circulated about you. In African astrology, the flickering of the lower eyelid suggests that you are about to cry. In case the upper eyelid flickers, you may have a sudden and unexpected encounter with someone.  

Scientific reasons for twitching eyes

There are scientific reasons, too, for the blinking of the eyes. They include tiredness, not having enough sleep, reading or working in dim light, stress, too much caffeine, working for long hours on the computer, neurological problems, etc.
