Benefic and Malefic Planets in Astrology

There are ways to determine if a planet is benefic or malefic for the native in their chart. But also need to throw light on the natural significance of the planet.

Malefic means a planet that can cause harm, sorrow, fear, or loss in its Dasha(Main and Sub period).

Benefic means a planet that can give promising and favorable results in its Dasha period(Main and Sub period).

Natural Benefic planets:- Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, and Unafflicted Moon.

Natural Malefic Planets:- Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Ketu, afflicted Moon

Neutral Planet-Sun

Disclaimer:- A planet can still be malefic even when in exaltation, and a planet can still be benefic even in debilitation.

Lordship effect:- Any planet owning the 1st House or 5th House, or 9th House in your birth chart can never be malefic. (Notes Degree of a planet plays a vital role in judging its strength of the planet.) Aries Ascendant:- For Aries Ascendant, Mars, Moon, Jupiter, and Sun are benefic planet, and Saturn, Venus, Mercury, Ketu, and Rahu becomes malefic.

Taurus Ascendant:- For Taurus Ascendant, Venus and, Saturn, and Mercury turns benefic, and Jupiter, Rahu, Moon, Ketu, Mars are malefic. Sun remains neutral.
