Uchchhishta Ganapati: Embodiment of Cosmos and Supreme Consciousness

Uchchhishta Ganapati is one of the secretive forms of the ever-blessing Lord Ganesha. The Sanskrit term ‘Uchchhishta’ is comprised of ‘Ut’ + ‘Sishta’ and is a synonym of the term ‘Utkrishta’ meaning ‘perfect’ or ‘superior’. Uchchhishta Ganapati is the form of Ganesha that represents the entire cosmos and supreme consciousness. Beauty, pleasure and abundance to be enjoyed by every being is symbolically depicted as Uchchhishta Ganapati.

According to the scriptures, Uchchhishta Ganapati is depicted with six hands, each hand holding a bow (Dhanus), an arrow (Bana), a noose (Pasha), an elephant goad (Ankusha), a red lotus and with his sixth hand, embraces his consort seated on his left thigh.
