Delay in marriage affects different people differently. Some people are not too bothered by it as they cherish their freedom and independence, while some people can be rather upset about it, especially as they have to face all kinds of questions from relatives and friends. 

Sometimes, there can be astrological reasons for delays in marriage. According to astrology, certain planetary combinations in a person’s horoscope can delay marriage. According to Vedic astrology, the 7th house in the birth chart plays a key role in determining the time of marriage.

 If planets that rule the 7th house are found in the 8th or 12th house, they produce “doshas.” One example is the Mangal dosha. Marriage is linked to the elements of fire and air. So, a successful marriage depends on the timely union of these two elements in the right proportions.

  • Saturn, a slow-moving planet, can cause delays. If Saturn has any connection to the aspect of the seventh house or conjugates, it causes a delay in marriage.

Consume more haldi milk, chana dal, turmeric parathas, dal, etc. Use haldi in your bath water. After the bath, apply saffron and haldi tilak. 

Worship Goddess Durga

When a girl’s marriage is delayed due to Rahu dosha in the Kundli, she should worship Goddess Durga, who controls Rahu. 

Fast for 16 consecutive Mondays

Fasting for 16 consecutive Mondays is a good remedy for girls’ delayed marriage. One should offer Jalabhisekam to the Shivling as well. 

Chant Gauri Shankar Mantra

Chant the Gauri Shankar Mantra -” हे गौरी शंकर अर्धागिंनी यथा त्वं शंकर प्रिया, तथा माम कुरू कल्याणी कान्त कान्ता सुदुर्लभम्”. 

Use a lock and keys

Buy a lock and keep the keys under your pillow. Keep the keys and this lock overnight at a busy junction. Do not turn around. 

Chant Shiva and Parvati verses

Read passages from Ramcharitmanas’ Bal Kand that are related to Shiva and Parvati’s marriage. This should be done daily. 

Plant a banyan tree

Those aged 31 - 35 can plant a Banyan tree outside their home. Avoid salt on Thursdays. Keep an image of Vishnu in your line of sight and chant the Mantra “Om Brim brihaspataye namah” three times each day.

Wear yellow clothes

Those aged 25 -30 should wear yellow attire. 

Light Pancha Deepa

Under a neem tree, place a Ganesha idol and light five earthen lamps with oil.
