What is Akshaya Tritiya?

Akshaya Tritiya is a most auspicious occasion for Hindus. It is also known as Akha Teej, and it is celebrated on Tritiya (third day) of the Shukla Paksha in Vishaka month. It is even more auspicious if the Muhurta falls on Rohini Nakshatra. "Akshaya" means ‘something indestructible or undiminished. Hence, rituals and the good deeds done on this day gives excellent benefits. It is believed that the blessings and divine grace that one receives from such acts do not diminish and only keep growing with time. Supposedly, even Lord Kubera became wealthy and was given the position of the treasurer of the gods only after he prayed to Goddess Lakshmi on this day.

Akshaya Tritiya Pooja

Those who wish to get wealth, power and success can perform the Akshaya Tritiya Pooja. This Pooja invokes the blessings of several gods like Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, Lord Vishnu, and Goddess Lakshmi. Lord Ganesha bestows blessings like knowledge, courage, and wisdom to devotees on this day. While Lord Shiva bestows marital happiness and good fortune, Goddess Lakshmi frees us from financial problems. Lord Krishna gives the blessings of peace and moksha.
