Kubera

Kubera is a Yaksha. Yakshas are the guardians of wealth and Lord Kubera is their king, who is in charge of wealth. He is an important Demi-God and is considered a good friend of Shiva, who also loaned money to Vishnu (Venketeswara) for his wedding. While Goddess Lakshmi remains the Goddess of wealth, Kubera is believed to be its custodian who distributes it among people. Kubera is also the guardian of the Northern direction, who presides over his kingdom Alakapuri. He is the son of Vaisravana and is also believed to be Brahma’s grandson, who originated through his mind. Kubera is depicted as a pot-bellied dwarf with one eye, eight teeth, and three legs. He is fully adorned with jewelry, carries a bag of gold coins and a bowl of pomegranate.
