Navratri with Ma Chandi
Navratri victory with Ma Chandi or Goddess Chandi symbolizes the power that perfects your mind, body and soul enabling an enriched life free from negativity and suffering. Chandi Shakti is very fierce and powerful. She is the primordial energy that is responsible for the creation, sustenance and destruction of this entire universe. She is the sum total of the energies of all beings of this universe and is the savior of her children on the earth and protects them from all evil.
She has an overwhelming omnipotence both violent and impetuous. The 3 eyed Goddess has multiple arms that hold powerful weapons and emblems, jewels and ornaments, garments and utensils, garlands and rosaries of beads, all offered by the gods. With her golden body blazing with the splendor of a thousand suns, seated on her lion vehicle, Ma Chandi is one of the most spectacular of all personifications of Cosmic energy.
The Devi Mahatmiyam or Saptashati, is a sacred text describing the victory of the Goddess over the demon. It is considered as 1 Mantra but is a collection of 700 Mantras in 13 Chapters hence Chandi Homa consists of 13 Specific Rituals. On Navratri, AstroVed is extending the offers and prayers of the devotees of Ma Chandi through Chandi Homa.
Chandi Homa on Vijaya Dasami
A Chandi Homa is an elaborate fire ritual for the fierce Goddess Chandi. This is the name given to the Divine Feminine energy or ‘Shakti’ that is the combined fierce form of all Goddesses – The Supreme Shakti or Universal Life Force.
A Chandi Homa is not an ordinary Homa and has to be performed by 9 expert priests with years of experience in handling such complex and powerful rituals. Our 9 expert priests at AstroVed will perform Chandi Homa by chanting the Slokas contained in the 13 chapters of Durga Saptashati which is then followed by the actual Homa and other rituals which include 13 rituals like Ganapathy Pooja, Kanya Pooja, Suhasini Pooja, Dampathi Pooja, Brahmachari Puja, etc.
Kanya Pooja is one of the highlights of Navratri celebrations at AstroVed on Vijaya Dasami, which is a sacred ritual performed to receive the blessings of the Goddess through the pure forms of prepubescent girls. They act as the human proxies for the Divine Feminine and channel the pure energy to all who seek Shakti power. Kanya Kumari is the form of Ma Durga in her purest form and Kanya Pooja is one of the rare poojas within the tantric tradition.
The rituals of Chandi Homa on Vijaya Dasami will start in the evening with chanting of the Slokas contained in the 13 chapters of Durga Saptashati. The next morning, the fire ritual/homa is performed with other rituals. These include seeking consent from the Goddess, a cleansing ritual, a cow pooja, a pooja involving washing the feet of a married woman, all esoteric rituals symbolizing energetic transformations…
