Ram Navami Fast

Introduction: Lord Ram sets a perfect example of how a human should conduct his life on earth. Such a celebrated God’s birthday is commemorated as Sri Ram Navami. He is one among the incarnations of Lord Vishnu, who descended to earth from the heaven above, to help humans. The roots of this tradition run deep for more than 5000 years. Fasting has both a scientific and religious rationale behind it.
Fasting until noon
Eating only once during the day
Fasting till midnight
Fasting for nine days beginning on the first day of Chaitra
Many people observe the fast with just a single meal, and just take fruits. Instead, if a person is eating a full meal once a day during fasting, it can include potatoes and should avoid turmeric, garlic, ginger or onion, fruits, and any type of vegetables. It is highly important to avoid curd, tea, coffee, milk, and water. Although, it is not compulsory to keep a waterless fast, many people can observe the fast by drinking adequate water to keep themselves properly hydrated. Many people observe a strict fast, not even drinking a drop of water for the total day. It is also important to use only rock salt while preparing the food or prasadam for the Lord. Many people will also have their food after the prayers, and eat the prasadam.
