Hayagriva Jayanthi 2016July 29, 2016
When Vishnu incarnated as Hayagriva to bless you with the wealth of knowledge
This year Hayagriva Jayanthi falls on August 17, 2016. Hayagriva is the horse-headed being hailed as an avatar of Lord Vishnu. He is worshiped as the God of Wisdom and Intelligence, and holds our attention in a very special way in the age of Kali Yuga.
Hayagriva helps you recover from the clutches of ignorance
Siddhas of ancient times anticipated the arrival of the Kali Yuga, or our present modern age, as well as the decline of values in people. They knew that minds would be overshadowed by illusions and ignorance, and that people would be besieged by disease and suffering. As a positive force for renewal of pure energy in such an age, Hayagriva is the guardian angel who can bless us with the right intelligence and knowledge to reduce suffering.
An important section of the Puranas relates that the great sage Agastya, who upon witnessing the coming of the Kali Yuga, grieved over the selfish and unrighteous ways of people. In his sadness, Agastya absorbed himself in intensive meditation to find a way to liberation humanity from ignorance. Lord Vishnu appeared to him in the form of Hayagriva and imparted the ways in which humans could go about obtaining salvation from suffering in the age of Kali Yuga.
Hayagriva helps to acquire all forms of knowledge
Ancient Vedic scriptures maintain that Hayagriva represents the sacred sounds of creation from the Vedas; the very powerful primordial sounds whose utterance brings into existence the physical and mental world of humans beings, the world of various creatures existing on the earth plane, and the evolution of various civilizations. The mantra on Hayagriva is, therefore, the root of all mantras and can empower you with the mastery over words and bring revelations of secret mechanics of all creations. Without his blessings, you cannot take the steps for acquiring super-natural or siddhi powers.
According to Puranas, when the demons Madhu and Kaitabha stole the Vedas, Brahma asked Goddess Shakti for help. The Goddess asked Him to seek the grace of Vishnu to retrieve the holy text. Vishnu incarnated as Hayagriva, killed the demons, recovered the Vedas, and saved Brahma’s creation.
Listening to his mantra is not only auspicious to hear, but it also resurrects in you the sense of beauty and spiritual knowledge that helps to rise above forces of darkness.
Hayagriva Upanishad relates that once, the saint in heaven Narada, requested Lord Brahma, the Creator, teach him the knowledge that would remove all sins from humans so that they can enjoy the wealth hidden in the secretive Knowledge of Creation. Brahma advised him to master the mantras of Hayagriva because he presides over knowledge gained through hearing, memorizing, and learning through the study of history and epics.
Celestial energies of the day supporting celebration of Hayagriva’s birthday in 2016
On the birthday of Hayagriva in 2016, the Moon will be in the star of Shravana, which has Lord Vishnu as the presiding deity. The name of the star indicates the art of listening and therefore, acquiring knowledge through listening brings intelligence. As the Moon represents the mind, the presence of a full Moon in the star Shravana will bring energies that will help in learning or acquiring knowledge.
Hayagriva is also the master of Goddess Saraswati, the archetype for learning and creative arts. Pray to Hayagriva and Vishnu on this day for blessings to acquire conscious knowledge and the skill of implementing this knowledge with right intelligence in order to meet goals and attaining success.
