Varaha is the third incarnation of Vishnu. According to mythology, a demon called Hiranyaksha dragged the earth to the bottom of the ocean. Vishnu turned into a boar to rescue the earth. The two fought for a thousand years, and finally, Varaha killed the demon and raised the earth from the water with his tusks. Chanting the Varaha Gayatri Mantra is believed to bestow protection to one’s properties. The best time to chant it is Ekadasi thithi and Saturdays. It should be recited 11, 108, or 1008 times.
