Mangala stotras are usually recited at the end of reciting other Stotras or singing many songs, or at the conclusion of an auspicious function. Here, the devotee praises and wishes auspiciousness to the deity. Mangalam means “good wishes”, or “wishes for a happy ending”. Shiva Mangalashtakam is recited for Lord Shiva. Reciting it can remove the fear of diseases, death, and misfortune.
