Sarpa Suktam is a sacred hymn dedicated to the snake gods or Naga Devatas. People who have Naga Dosha in their horoscope may have fertility problems and also suffer delays in marriage, misfortunes, and sorrows. Chanting the Sarpa Suktam, which praises the serpent gods, can lessen the ill effects of Naga Dosha and bestow prosperity and well-being. Naga Dosha is caused by the presence of Rahu and Ketu (also called the snake planets) in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, or 8th house in the natal chart. It is also said that this curse is a result of harm done to snakes in one’s past life. Chanting the Suktam regularly can help those who lack progeny and suffer from incurable ailments. It can also remove the fear of snakes, ward off evil forces, and bestow confidence and courage.
