Purusha Suktam – For Success, Prosperity, and Excellence Purusha Suktam, an ancient Rig Vedic hymn, praises Purusha, the universal being who is found in everything that is conscious and unconscious. The hymn also appears in the Sama-veda Samhita, the Taittiriya Aranyaka, the Vajasaneyi Samhita, and the Atharva Veda Samhita. Lord Vishnu is the deity who is invoked in this worship. Chanting or listening to this Suktam can bestow clarity of mind, wealth, radiance, prosperity, excellence in all actions, peace, happiness, success in endeavors, strength, prudence, and power. Purusha Suktam is one among the Pancha Suktam (5 Suktams). The others are Vishnu Suktam, Sri Suktam, Bhu Suktam, and Nila Suktam. It is also recited during Homas or statue installation, and during meditation. It is supposedly very useful for those with diabetes. It can bestow progeny and marital bliss. Sahasra Seersha Narayana Suktam – For Cleansing the Self ‘Sahasra’ means ‘1000’, and ‘Seersha’ means ‘head’. This Sloka extols the 1000-headed deity or Lord Narayana/Vishnu. The 1000 heads signify that he is omnipresent and all-pervading. The Narayana Sukta is a sacred hymn from the Yajurveda. Lord Narayana is none other than Vishnu. The hymn praises the glorious qualities of Narayana as Para Brahman. Reciting this hymn or listening to it is believed to be very auspicious. It also cleanses the self.
