Punyavachanam is a Hindu ritual that is performed on important occasions like housewarming, engagement, marriage, 11th day after childbirth, puberty, birthday, death, etc. It is done to get relief from the doshas caused by the five elements of Fire, Air, water, earth, and space. It is also done to get the blessings of all the gods and to purify the house and the people residing in it. Punyavachanam Pooja is performed in honor of Lord Varuna.
