Shani or Saturn is a Navagraha or one of the nine planets that determine the fortunes of human beings in Vedic Astrology. Shani is a karmic planet that rewards or punishes us in accordance with the deeds we commit during our lifetime. Though many consider it to be a malefic planet, it is more like a stern teacher who tries to instill discipline and teaches us valuable lessons that enable us to succeed in life. Those who suffer from Shani afflictions or those who are undergoing Sade Sati, etc., should chant the Shani Mantra for relief from its adverse effects.
