The Narayana Upanishad is one of the minor Upanishads. It is number 18 in the extended anthology of 108 Upanishads which Rama recited to Hanuman. The text was composed in the medieval period, but its author and chronology are vague. It is written in Sanskrit and attached to the Krishna Yajurveda. It is one of 14 Vaishnava Upanishads. It prescribes devotion to Lord Narayana/Vishnu. As per the Narayana Upanishad, reciting the Mantra “Aum Namo Narayanaya” can help one attain salvation. The text is one of the Mantra Upanishads. The Upanishad has only 5 chapters.
