
Ganesha Ashtothram or Ashtottara Shatanamavali comprises the 108 names of Lord Ganesha. These are recited to praise Ganesha, who is the remover of obstacles. This is believed to help one attain one’s goals in life. Ganesha has many divine names. Each name has a deeper meaning and relates to an attribute of the deity. These 108 names are chanted when doing Poojas or other sacred rituals or even commencing a new task. It is an important part of Ganesh Chaturthi pooja. On this occasion, each name is recited along with an offering of a flower or sacred rice.
