Shakradaya Stuti is a hymn of praise that is sung by Shakra or Lord Indra and the other Devas (demigods) in honor of Goddess Durga after she killed the buffalo demon, Mahishasura. It is the fourth chapter of Devi Mahatmyam or Durga Saptashati, which is found in the Markandeya Purana. The Devi Mahatmyam comprises chapters 81-93 of the Markandeya Purana. It narrates the stories and exploits of Durga in her fight against the demons. Devotees chant these verses during Durga Pooja to invoke the Goddess’ blessings and protection.
