Daridraya Dahana Shiv Stotra is a hymn that invokes Lord Shiva to destroy poverty. ‘Daridraya’ means ‘poverty’ and ‘dahana’ means ‘to destroy by burning completely’. This hymn was composed by the great sage, Vashishta. The poverty implied here can be mental as well as material. Negative emotions like ego, anger, greed, selfishness, jealousy, fear, etc., also make us poor as they rob us of happiness and peace. Chanting this hymn regularly is believed to bestow prosperity, remove debts, and also sound health.
