This is a very powerful 8-verse hymn in praise of Goddess Gayatri Devi. It is believed to remove sins and grant salvation. It is believed that the 4 Vedas, Shastras, and Srutis originated from Gayatri. Because of her Vedic origin, she is worshipped as the triple deity of Vedas, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. So she is also called Deva Mata. She is the goddess of all knowledge, and another name for her is Jnana-Ganga. She is supposedly the second wife of Lord Brahma. Gayatri is also an incarnation of the 3 goddesses, Parvati, Saraswati, and Lakshmi.
