
Lalita Trishati is the Stotra or hymn of Goddess Lalita Tripurasundari. Tri’ means ‘three’, and ‘shati’ means ‘hundred’, so it denotes 300 secret names of Goddess Lalita. The hymn mentions 300 names of the Goddess. It is a secret hymn that is full of mysteries. It is part of the Lalitaopakhyanam, which is found in the latter part of the Brahmanda Purana. It is believed that Lord Hayagreeva (an avatar of Lord Vishnu) initiated the hymn to Sage Agastya. It is also called Sarvapoortikara Stotra, which means that it can fulfill all desires and make impossible tasks possible. This hymn supposedly contains all knowledge about the world. One should be initiated into it only a qualified Guru, and it should be kept a secret.
