The 15-Day Ancient Ritual to Eliminate Blemishes from the Nine Planets

dateMay 30, 2023

Vedic astrology holds that the Navagrahas or nine planets exert a major influence on human lives and destiny. Their influence can be understood by studying a person’s birth chart. Good or bad events in a person’s life happen due to the positions of the planets in the 12 houses of their horoscope. For this reason, people worship the Navagrahas and perform rituals to appease them so that their adverse effects on their lives will be fewer. Many temples in India, in fact, have a place in their premises where the Navagraha idols are installed so that devotees can worship them and make offerings.

Siddha Yogi Siva Dasan Ravi has even written a book in which he describes a ritual for eliminating the doshas, or blemishes, caused by the nine planets. It is a remarkable remedy that anyone can perform anywhere.

This ancient ritual offers a way to purify the negative influences and blemishes in our horoscope that occur due to planetary afflictions. This article is about this ritual that one should perform over 15 days.

In astrology, full moons and new moons are important as they have great power and influence. The 15-day ritual mentioned in this article can help us harness planetary energies and transform our lives. It involves following a series of steps from the full moon to the new moon. This helps mitigate the malefic effects of the planets and strengthen the birth chart.

The step-by-step description of the ritual follows below.

Step 1: Gathering Nava Dhanyams

On a full moon day, start the ritual by buying a packet of Nava Dhanyams. This mixture comprises 9 grains symbolizing the 9 planets. Holding a handful of the grains in your hand, get ready to begin the ritual.

Nava Dhanyams

Nava Dhanyams have associations with the 9 planets in Vedic astrology. Each grain is linked to a specific planet and has unique properties and energies. Given below are the names of the Nava Dhanyams and the planets associated with them.

1. Wheat - Offering for Sun or Surya

2. Rice - Offering for Moon or Chandra

3. Masoor Dal - Offering for Mars or Mangal

4. Green Gram - Offering for Mercury or Budh

5. Chickpea - Offering for Jupiter or Guru.

6. White beans - Offering for Venus or Shukra or Brihaspati

7. Black Sesame - Offering for Shani or Saturn

8. Black Gram - Offering for Rahu

9. Horse Gram - Offering for Ketu

Step 2: Chanting Mantras and Circulating Your Fist

Hold the Nava Dhanyams in your hand. Then hold your fist in front of your eyes and circle it around your head. Repeat this 9 times, and then return to the starting position. During each round, chant the Mantra for each planet in the order - Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu. When you finish the 9th round, you will have chanted the Mantras for all the 9 planets.

Mantras for the 9 Planets

ॐ सूर्याय नमः Om suryaaya namah

ॐ चंद्राय नमः Om chandraaya namah

ॐ मंगलाय नमः Om mangalaaya namah

ॐ बुधाय नमः Om budhaaya namah

ॐ बृहस्पतये नमः Om brhaspataye namah

ॐ शुक्राय नमः Om shukraaya namah

ॐ शनिश्चराय नमः Om shanischaraaya namah

ॐ राहवे नमः Om rahave namah

ॐ केतवे नमः Om ketave namah

Step 3: Placing the Nava Dhanyams

After completing Steps 1 and 2, transfer the Nava Dhanyams into a new earthen pot. If you don’t have an earthen pot, use a vessel filled with mud.

Step 4: Daily Water Circulation and Mantra Chanting

For the next 15 days, beginning with the full moon until the following new moon, follow a daily practice. Before you bathe each day, hold a small cup of water in your hands and circle it around your head 9 times. While doing this action, chant the Mantras for each planet in the same order as given in Step 2. After completing the 9 circles, pour the water into the earthen pot.

Step 5: Repeat the Water Circulation

Repeat Step 4 consistently for 15 days. Perform the water circulation and mantra chanting before your daily bath. This helps you to establish a connection with the planetary energies over the course of the lunar cycle.

Step 6: Final Day Ritual

On the last day of the 15-day ritual, decorate the earthen pot with turmeric and kumkum, which are auspicious symbols. Then pay homage to the pot by reciting the 9 Navagraha mantras, expressing reverence and gratitude for the planetary forces you invoked.

Step 7: Circulating the Pot and Bidding Farewell

Holding the pot in your hands, circle it around your body 9 times. This action represents the integration of the planetary energies into your being. After this, go to a nearby river or lake (if you used an earthen pot) or an isolated place (if you used a non-earthen pot). Place the pot in the water or leave it at the designated place to signify that you are bidding farewell to the accumulated energies.

If you perform this 15-day magical ritual with faith and devotion, it can alleviate the adverse effects of the planets and also boost their positive effects in your birth chart..

This simple yet powerful ritual can help you tap into the transformative power of planetary energies to make your life happy, successful, and prosperous.
