Nivedhyam is the special and fresh food offering made to God or Goddess as a part of the worship, before consuming it. It is believed that the deity tastes the Nivedhyam during the ritual, which is then distributed to everyone as Prasad (sacred offering). According to sacred texts, the Prasad is considered to be energized and blessed by the deity during the ritual.
