Scriptural Glory of Nagas and Garuda

The Srimad Bhagavata Purana describes Nagas as the protectors of treasures hidden in the earth. Nagas are propitiated for protection from adverse events, blessings to beget progeny or secure health and wealth, ward off effects of evil, safeguard land from drought and disasters, and bestow peace and harmony in the family.
According to Garuda Purana, Garuda is a massive man-eagle with a gold torso, a white face or neck, well-spread crimson wings, a long, pointy beak, and a crowned head. Many serpents encircle different areas of his body. Offering prayers to Garuda is believed to remove negativity and bestow victory and prosperity. His blessings can also aid in finding a cure for skin disorders, vision problems, and other blood and sleep-related disorders.

Sarpa Suktam Chanting (Serpent Gods’ Hymn of Praise)

Sarpa Suktam is a sacred hymn from the Krishna Yajur Veda, composed in praise of the nine prominent serpent Gods- Ananta, Vasuki, Shesha, Padmanabha, Kambala, Drutharashtra, Shankhapala, Takshaka, and Kaaliya. According to sacred texts, chanting Sarpa Suktam can reduce the impact of Naga or Sarpa Dosha (Snake Afflictions) in the birth chart and bestow protection from the ill effects of snake afflictions. 

Garuda Panchakshari Homa (Divine Vehicle of Vishnu Fire Lab)

Garuda Panchakshari is a powerful mantra chanted in praise of Garuda. The Sanskrit word “pancha” means “the number 5,” and “akshara” is a letter. “Panchakshari” means “a five-letter word.” Here, it represents a hymn named Panchakshari. What Will I Receive?

The ritual is the carbonization of thoughts. Carbon is our information bearing atoms. The carbon residue (ash) given out as Prasad is to be placed on the third eye area of the participants and carries the blessings of the archetypes invoked.
