Banker of Heaven, Kubera at Dr. Pillai’s Temple
AstroVed is giving you an opportunity to be part of the yearlong grand monthly ceremonies to the banker of heaven Kubera, who arrived at Dr. Pillai’s Temple on the Royal Full Moon of Abundance 2021 in the Tamil month of Karthigai. Dr. Pillai has commissioned these ongoing ceremonies to the distributor of material riches Kubera to invoke his blessings for financial growth, prosperity, and resolving debts.
Lord of Wealth Kubera
There are many scriptural references to Kubera as the guardian of wealth. The sacred texts hail Kubera as the protector of wealth and material riches of all celestial beings and the head of the Yaksha clan, who are the guardians of wealth. He is also called ‘Dhanapati’- the Lord of wealth.
Kubera holds the position of 4th Lokapala (guardian of north direction). As per Vastu Shastra, the North is the direction of growth, prosperity, and permanence. He is also entrusted with distributing riches and safeguarding all of the earth’s treasures, including gold, silver, pearls, jewels, precious stones, and Nava Nidhis (9 special treasures). Furthermore, Kubera is considered a good friend of Shiva and loaned money to Vishnu for his wedding.
Divine Persona of Kubera
In Sanskrit, ‘Kubera’ means deformed. Kubera has a fat and dwarfish body with a complexion reminiscent of lotus leaves. He has three legs, eight teeth, and a yellow left eye. He is adorned with heavy jewelry and carries a pot or bag of gold coins. Kubera’s wives are Riddhi, Goddess of growth, and Nidhi, Goddess of accumulation.

What Will I Receive?
You will receive the sacred ash powder from the Homa, which will be blessed in the rituals. Keep this on your meditation altar and wear it on your forehead during meditation or at other times to expand the Divine blessings into your life.
Dr. Pillai explains this:
The ritual is the carbonization of thoughts. Carbon is our information bearing atoms. The carbon residue (ash) given out as Prasad is to be placed on the third eye area of the participants and carries the blessings of the archetypes invoked.
