Karthigai Deepam, known as the Full Moon of Abundance, occurs in Karthigai Month (Mid. Nov – Mid. Dec) and is regarded as the most auspicious and generous Full Moon that can bestow good fortune, wealth, and transformation blessings.
Karthigai Deepam occurs when the Full Moon aligns with the Pleiadian star, Krittika, the birth star associated with Muruga, the Warrior Archetype representing vitality, victory, and righteousness. It was also the day when Shiva emerged as the Pillar of Light to destroy the ego of Brahma and Vishnu and establish his Supremacy in the Trinity.

Shiva as Arunachaleswara- The Universal Divine Light that Destroys Darkness & Grants Transformational Blessings
The Arunachala Hill, located in Thiruvannamalai in South India, is believed to be the first manifestation of Shiva in Lingam form and is known as ‘Adi Lingam.’ Shiva, as Arunachaleswara, is exalted in the scriptures as the bestower of liberation, the destroyer of ego, and the remover of falsehood and internal negativities. According to Shiva Purana, Vishnu and Brahma quarreled about who was superior amongst them. To show his supremacy and put an end to their duel, Shiva appeared as a huge pillar of light (Fire) and challenged them both to find the start and end of the fire.
Creator Archetype Brahma took the form of a swan and flew to find the start of the fire, whereas Preserver Archetype Vishnu took the form of a boar and began digging into the earth to find the bottom of the pillar.
