Kanakadhara Chanting Service (Hymns of Praise to Goddess Lakshmi)

Vedic Technology to Invoke Lakshmi’s Shower of Wealth
June 17th, IST

The Kanakadhara Hymn is a profound work by revered Hindu Saint, philosopher and theologian, Adi Sankaracharya. His powerful Hymn of Praise invoked Goddess Lakshmi to shower her blessings in the form of raining golden gooseberries. Lakshmi is an archetype that represents money blessings and miracles. It is believed that Adi Sankaracharya’s spontaneous hymn has the power to attract wealth and remove bad money karma.

AstroVed has organized a special Kanakadhara Chanting Service with Vedic specialists who are experts in this precious technology.

Mythology behind Kanakadhara Hymn of Praise

Adi Sankaracharya had a routine of obtaining food by asking for alms known as Bhiksha in Sanskrit. It was a tradition for every housewife to serve a meal to any person seeking Bhiksha. One day, the Saint knocked at the door of a poor woman’s house. Knowing the greatness of Adi Sankaracharya, she searched the entire house but to her dismay, she could not offer him anything to eat. The distraught woman found a single Indian gooseberry or Amla. Walking reluctantly to the door, she offered it in his bowl with great reverence.

Moved by the action of the woman who gave her utmost despite her poverty, Sankaracharya spontaneously composed 21 hymns, known as Kanakadhara Hymn in praise of Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth. Pleased by his hymn, Goddess Lakshmi appeared before him to understand the reason for his call. Sankaracharya asked the Goddess to bless the woman with wealth. The woman in her previous birth had not done any good deeds or charity. Stating this reason, the Goddess refused to bless her. However, he argued that she had performed the good deed of offering him a gooseberry despite her poverty in this birth.

The Goddess of wealth, accepting his statement, showered a golden amla fruit rain and blessed the women with material wealth.
