Unique Attributes of Bhagavati Seva Pooja

This esoteric ritual should only be performed by specially trained Nambudiri priests initiated by a Guru (teacher). The Divine energy of Goddess Rajarajeswari is invoked in a large lamp placed on an energized hand-drawn diagram of a Padmam (lotus), symbolizing the Universe. The colors of the lotus represent Pancha bhootas, the five elements of nature- Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether (Space/the Causal Plane).

Invoking the Goddess in the lamp placed in the center of the Padmam, or lotus, is equivalent to the act of creation as it symbolizes the unification of the 5 elements. This Bhagavati Seva ritual uses symbols and methodology with deep inner meaning. This ceremony is intended to restore balance in the environment and bring peace within us and the world.

The ritual is the carbonization of thoughts. Carbon is our information bearing atoms. The carbon residue (ash) given out as Prasad is to be placed on the third eye area of the participants and carries the blessings of the archetypes invoked.
